Sad News: Thinks that broke in the move

There were a few things that were dropped, or thrown, or jumbled around during the move. And since we moved most of the stuff ourselves, there's nobody we can even blame.

First: Our speakers. They cost us $8 at a garage sale, (with a knife block thrown in!) and were actually pretty good.

They certainly went loud enough for our apartment building, and we were happy with them. They even matched most of our furniture. Unfortunately when we were finally settled enough to set them up, we found out that they had somehow blown in the move. They work, but buzz a lot now with ANY music. Aj tried to fix them (that's what the t-shirt stuffed into it is about)... but it didn't really help so we've resorted to using my bass amp.

And now you can see why I haven't posted pictures of our place yet. It's a mess. We're in the middle of final projects, and exams. And there's art stuff EVERYWHERE. Also you'll notice those weird cushions in the background. That brings me to the next one:

The couch:

Our couch was kind of infamous for being a few things.
1. Really freakin' heavy
2. Very uncomfortable
3. Too big to get in the front door of the apartment

Yes, it was dragged up the fire escape to get into the last apartment. And there's an equally interesting story about how it was taken out but I'll let Andrew write about that one. If he doesn't within the next few days, I'll probably just tell you because it's slightly hilarious, and also really sad.

Anywho, it's gone. We just kept the cushions. I'm planning on making them floor cushions - we don't really need a couch, especially not that one. But for now they sit there and are ugly and uncomfortable. But hey. They're the same comfi-ness as the couch, because they are the same couch reduced to cushions.

I dropped the PS3 out of the truck while we were moving. It did like 6 somersaults. However, it still works. Good job Sony.

The last thing, and possibly the saddest thing, is one of our record players.

It stopped working altogether when we first got here. Aj fixed it temporarily- maybe I'll get him to write about it because all I know is that he put that little red button on, and it started working. He says it still isn't quite right, but right now it's hard to say since the speakers are broken and that's all it would play on. So hopefully this one ends up being ok, but for now we're a little bit worried. It's pretty new. (not the BEST quality, but it was still a recent purchase and one that we actually bought new instead of used...)

So yes, that's the sad news of the day.

On the bright side, we're having beautiful weather and have been making an effort (and actually following through with it) to go for walks every day, and keep on top of our homework.

I may post some pictures later of our final projects, but for now they're not quite finished. Aj's working on a sweet self-portrait, and a sculpture, both are lovely.

I'm working on a self-portrait as well, and a big drawing of a forest. We'll see how that goes.

Happy weekend !
