My Bedroom

So, I'm sort of avoiding doing our living room. It will probably be the last one I do. And that's because we're in there the most. And it's so messy. We have a lot of painting and art projects going on since school started. And the room is covered in stuff. So, when I get around to cleaning it, then I'll show you it :)

So keep that in mind- what you're seeing is as clean as it gets ! It's usually much messier, but I have 4 day weekends, so I've had a bit of time to clean up.

Aj made me this for my jewellery a long time ago. it's perfect.

this is my wardrobe. my favourite piece of furniture that I own. it was my great grandmothers, and is made from ration crates during WWII. how cool is that. we put it at the end of our bed to make a dressing area since we don't get up at the same times for school. the table beside it, we found in an abandoned house and i fell in love with it.

it took a while, but i finally got my sewing machine here, this is my sewing table. not used much at this point, but it definitely comes in handy ! The sheet on the wall is a beaut, it has tiny mirrors on it too. we bought that in kensington sometime before we moved. Aj plays saxophone, so there it is.

no matter how old i get, i will always have pillow bunny on my bed. i like the windows in our room. its a nice light.

we have two turntables, but this is the one in our room. it sits on the radiator for now. not sure what we'll do once we have the rads on. i listen to more vinyl than i listen to an ipod.

bathroom will be next, then living room :)

miss you alliston, look forward to the weekend home.

My kitchen!

So as promised, now that I've got a camera or two kickin' about. Here is a glimpse into my tiny world/apartment. This is my kitchen!

this is the whole of our counter space. yes, it is small. and yes, the stove is small, and the fridge is small. these are not regular sized appliances. they are small. everything is small in this small space. you may have noticed some of our cupboards are missing doors. they fell off. i would love to rip the rest of the doors off and paint the frames and interior of the cupboards, but we'll probably only be here for a year. so. no renos this time. it is cute though, and very cozy.

this is our fridge. my mom gifted the magnets to me for my birthday last year. i like them. our friends always leave strange sentences on the fridge like: 'i did jump above a warm puppy', or 'like the essential heart i jump with surprise comfort'.

we painted the walls with chalkboard paint for another surface to doodle on. Tom found the chalk when he visited and left us some nice artwork. same with our bath markers in the tub. our coat rack is pretty packed but we're getting better at keeping so we can actually get to the living room.

aj went on a camping trip in the summer & i made this banner for his return (which he didn't notice anyway), and we always forget it's there. i sort of like it now and it just stays there to welcome us home (when we notice it) every time we come home.

aj bought these tiny incense cones which smell so good. however, we've lit a few too many fires with them. have to keep an eye on that stuff. i really like our mismatch chairs. we found the blue wooden one at a garage sale. its super heavy, but it's cute and blue. the other one is this ugly (but sweet) orange thing with rusty legs. I have no idea where in the heck it came from but it's nice.

our calendar has pictures of outhouses on it which you can't see in this picture. my orange apron is my favourite thing. it was my moms.

A and I have so many pairs of sunglasses. so, being crafty and whatnot, i crafted this rack for them. they each have a slot. it's handy for storing all sorts of things. the chalk eraser is usually in there and my extra phone cases have made their way there too. + our door is magnetic. that's my birthday card up there & my parents. nice!

& here's where my belt rug ended up. we have way too many shoes that spill all over the place and we trip all the day long.

so there's my kitchen. i'll show you another room soon.

Songs for Back to School

Here are some beats that I've been really into lately. Check em out!

Odessa// Caribou

Jasmine// Jai Paul
I actually couldn't find the version I have on itunes, but this one still sounds pretty similar. So- if you really like it, download the whole album. Because the whole thing is sweet.
None Shall Pass// Aesop Rock
This one even has a neat video.

Anywho. That's whats in my head lately. Wish me luck in my first class- photography- today!

Summer Update!

I noticed that I had a bunch of page views around my birthday and thought, maybe I should shoot an update.
I had this idea that a blog without pictures was no fun at all. & since I don't have a digital camera at the moment (Though hopefully soon because I'm upgrading to an iphone & my bf's mom has offered us her old one), I haven't posted all summer.

But for those of you that follow this to see what I'm up to, here's a small update.
I got that job as a seamstress. Here's a link to the website: http://hopskip.ca/
Google maps actually hasn't updated it yet, so if you look up the address, it's not there! It's down the street! They moved recently. My job has it's ups & downs. We'll see how it goes. My position didn't stay seamstress for long: I'm now a keyholder + I pay bills + seamstress + sales associate. It's just a little more than I thought, but luckily schools starting and my hours are slowing down along with my responsibilities there. I'm really thankful for it through the summer though, it has been the perfect job. It's a 15min. streetcar ride which I love (I can tell you every road running N/S along St. Clair from here to Wychwood Ave!).

Andrew & I moved June 22nd, and I started work June 23rd (crazy). I'm at Yonge & St. Clair. The move was pretty easy- we had the help of some nice guy friends, (Danny Nehmeth! Cody Clark! Devon Chalmers! & NOT VINNIE) & Aj's parents. We had also paid for the month of June. We moved slowly- every Saturday. It was a little stressful because that was exam time too, but things worked out and I passed all my classes, phew! I haven't posted any pictures yet! But don't worry I will. I'm so excited to show you our home. (which is pretty small...)

I'll post about the place when I have a camera.

So mostly this summer has been working to pay rent & a few days off. I've visited home a few times when I have a day off. I've gone shoppin' a couple times, kensington, queen st, yorkville. We went to the Jazz Festival which was sweet, we went to the beach & casa loma. I turned 18. This summer has been good. short, but pretty freakin good.

I have my orientation at OCAD tomorrow (which I forgot to mention I got accepted to), and I have my first class on Thursday. My classes this semester are painting, drawing, time based media (whatever that is!), history and photography. Sounds good to me.

Hugs & Kisses
