I quit wearing makeup when my carry-on was stolen in Nicaragua containing all my makeup, deoderant, and a million valuables (including a beautiful orange nalgene water bottle, brand new. DANG). I also stopped wearing deoderant but my mom bought me some the other day so I figure it's a sign I should wear it at least for the summer.
I just kind of decided I didn't want to buy more. It's a bit expensive, and I already wore it only to work for the most part. And it's actually going really well. I thought I'd go through a bit of withdrawal but since I only ever wore mascara and eyeliner (and occasionally a bit of coloured lip balm or whatever), I haven't really. The only time I've missed it is when I have really bad acne and don't have any cover up, but I'm over it for the most part at this point (5 months now!). And sometimes if I'm dressing up I feel a lil naked. I had a job interview yesterday and felt like I was missing something for sure.
But it's so good. I honestly don't even look in the mirror much. Ha. My hair is super low maintenance (as in I wake up and go about my day without thinking about what my hair looks like til I pass a mirror and I'm like, I should have checked that.). I brush it as much as I wash it. So my morning routine now consists of waking up, getting dressed, and getting onto my day. I spend 100% less time on making myself look better for other people. Which for me is real relaxing, and happy. It's definitely not for everyone, some people are actually good at applying makeup and it really looks nice. I'm not one of those people.
And I've received a lot of compliments & acknowledgment for my efforts. And that always feels good right? We're all a little stoked for a compliment or two.
Also, I have some job news. I got an administrative job yesterday at the military hospital in Borden. Full time til December. Which is awesome. It works perfectly with my Scotland time frame and I'll be making double minimum wage so I can actually save up for my trip. I'm still crossing my fingers for the Circle Theatre in Alliston as well so I can save as much as possible and work my butt off for like 60 hours a week. We'll see.
Anywho. Weird post. But I miss posting & I'm really avoiding posting about my move home for a while yet. So I'm just going to come up with quirky little things to tell you. Maybe I'll post the pictures of my new room soon.
